Math Class

1st grade has started a new Math curriculum this year!!!   It's fun, hands on, and creative.  The kids love this time of the day.  

We begin with addition (numbers 0-9) and then to to subtraction.  I teach touch dots, number lines, using manipulative, counting on.   Use strategy works best for your child.

Always practice those facts! I will send various strategies home to make creative ways to practice.  Timed tests will eventually be done most days of the week to increase fluency.  Kids have so much fun racing to get done.

This year we are utilizing a math computer program called Espark.  This program will be completed on an ipad during a specified time.  This will be complete at the students individual level.  This will allow for repetition where necessary and advancement when possible.  This is a fun way for students to learn.  I am very excited to have this opportunity for my class! The kids LOVE Espark!
