Reading Class

Some students switch teachers for reading based on their reading ability so we can best meet their needs.  If your child is in my reading class, this is what you can expect:

 

Monday - Students will receive their new spelling list.  This should be practiced just a few minutes each night unless your child is comfortable with spelling them.  We do practice them each day in the classroom.

 

Tuesday - The story of the week is introduced and students are expected to read the story for homework and bring back signed bookmark on Wednesday.  Vocabulary words are also introduced today and can be found on the page before the story of the week in your reading book.  Students will be given a handwriting worksheet today (for a grade).  This will be sent home in Take Home Tuesday folders.  The sentence on the back is the sentence on the back of their spelling test that is taken for an English grade.

 

Wednesday - Review day

 

Thursday - Review day and at night students should be practicing for tests on Friday.

 

Friday - Test day

 

*Shortened weeks with either not have a story or a revised schedule.
