A Note About Your Teacher...

I am very excited to work the children of my class this school year!   I feel truly privileged to spend each day with my students.  It is an honor to be a positive influence for the children of the Saint Marys community as this is my own hometown.  I was born and raised in Saint Marys, Pennsylvania.  I received my own education in this school district throughout my childhood.

Upon graduation, I earned a degree in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education with high honors.    It has been my lifelong dream to be a teacher.  I pursued an education that focused on the early development and growth of young children.

After that, I worked as a substitute teacher for a short time.  I also worked as a preschool intervention specialist where I created and taught lessons to preschool children with special needs while utilizing each child’s IEP.

After receiving many trainings and classes, I performed the duties of a reading intervention teacher as well.  At this position, I was able to gain experience working with the data of the PSSA, Dibels, and 4Sight assessments.  Using this data, I organized and differentiated my instruction for small groups of students based on their own individual skill level.

Many of these experiences have proven useful over the years as a teacher.  Each part of my past helps me to create a classroom of rapport and respect for my students and their families.  I strive to incorporate lessons that are rich, caring, and meet the needs of my learners on a regular basis.

In my own personal life, I have been blessed with a loving husband and two beautiful children.  I enjoy spending time with my family at our camp, baking homemade treats for my children, kayaking with friends, and watching movies.

As a teacher, I always try to treat my students as if they were my own children.  With many fond memories of our community’s families, I have been able to teach at this school in the kindergarten grade level for ten years.   Now, I feel blessed to continue my journey as a second grade teacher.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the upcoming school year!
